birthdays were never a big affair for becky. 28th august is an awfully odd time of the year, and I was used to having the day come and go.
But this year, I was blessed. The amazing people from the family, church, Fairfield, Acjc, and Communication Studies showed me what it was to be loved and what it is to be selfless. These are the people who have been largely responsible for touching my life in so many ways. These are the people who have lifted me up to be who I am today.
The presents, cards, cakes, words of love, overseas calls and spending of time with becky, who in my opinion is highly undeserving of any of all these, have sealed the prelude to the big 2 ‘0’ and made it a memorable experience.
Even though I now suffer from severe food overdose (more crudely, diarrhea. Totally ruined the 3rd day by calling an early halt to the celebrations. Idiot!), I Thank God. For I know, it is through these people, angels really, that He is showing me His amazing love. That chapter 20 isn’t going to stink as badly as I thought it would.
So, thank you guys.
I love you all from the bottom of my heart. I am truly over-whelmed. Much love. XOXO

joint celebration: jam + becky. fellowship with churchies over chicken, salmon, cookie mookie and vanilla obsession

thai dinner with the family. it was absolutely heavenly. all my favourites. auntie helen baked me an entire mango cheesecake. it shall be devoured once the gut feels better.

tai tai lunch with the cs folks. ate more that i thought i was capable of. another cheesecake. too delightful. it was a fun break from school. love you guys to bits. muah!

freedom is being alone
I fear liberation
but something more alive than silence
swallows conversation
no pleasing drama
in subtle averted eyes
the swelling fermata
as the chord dies

Of late, school has enslaved me.
We play with Sony DSR 390s, Pro Tools, InDesign and some other toys. We walk around school capturing images. During theatre class, we engage ourselves in monologues and run around the black area. We sit ourselves down in front of Mac G5s. No journ modules! There is really no need to complain.
Thankful. I cannot imagine my life without Jesus. He keeps me sane, psyched, and genuinely happy about living.
My first parcel for the big 2 O! Yanting, you’re one of the sweetest things alive.

going into my fourth week of school, but not quite there!

breakfast with charmie. the staple is bagel + cream cheese + mocha. come on, rock my world.

the last of the sbone reunions at sam's pad. we learnt how to play munchkins, ate up all the wings before everyone else came, and celebrated sam turning twenty.

paparazzi productions. kudos to the team. i guess it always strikes a better chord when you see your friends up there. the last play, counting the ways by edward albee, almost made me cry. loving only in the vicinity of crème brûlée. all relationships somehow become, don't they?
so. going into fourth week of school. are we quite there yet? DON'T THINK SO...

my national day morning
Published by becky on Tuesday, August 9 at 1:50 PM.

was spent at labrador park with the churchies. the kids waved their flags. we played with bubbles. they waved at the coast guards patroling the waters. the helicopters flew past with the flags. you can't get more nationaly day-ee than that. it poured. andre came up to me, "jie jie becky, come with me." and holding my hand, he brought me to the shelter. the crowd cosied away from the rain and shared tubs of ben and jerry's. the sun came out. and we ran after the kids again.
happy birthday singapore. love, a patriot wannabe.
a quickie.

this is why my big sister rocks -

always able to work her magic, she got me corrine may's signiture 2 years back via her friend at music & movement.

this morning, she came into my room, passed me this, and said, "nah. first part of your birthday present".
this is why my big sister rocks.

i'm a slave to this. the intermission can only last less than a week. boy am i lousy!
alright. so a quickie it shall be.
my thumb. it is very bruised. bruised very much. frisbee this morning with the a.c. frisbee maniacs aka very fun ppl. under the horrid horrid sun. didn't help that there's nothing left of the stamina. my right arm feels bigger now. and if i carry on playing, which i could, i may have a really big right arm. and that'll be scary ain't it.
and the relief teachers union (r.t.u) met again, after a year, today. over thai food and mocha brownie. and we talked about the superstars in unity. and we laughed about them. and tried to remember names, and was surprised at how we could have forgotten names when it has only been a year. we concluded, that no job will ever be as smashingly shiok as our 5 month stint at yew tee.
this week, fortunately for jam's effective coerce tactics, we met the female mps at a dialogue session. oh irene ng is such an inspiration. she could totally be a singapore version of oprah winfrey. wise, beautiful, and fashionably single.
the night ended with hagen daaz. 4 scoops and 3 toppings. now the thumb is hurting for nothing. i have put on every ounce of fat i burnt this morning.
the exchange essay is three quarters done. i think it is a crap piece. by God's grace, in 4 months, i will be gone. if not, i will be here anyway. and that is good too.
But you and I know the reason why
I'm gone,
and you're still there
